Staying Warm in the Winter

It's November, and we have two tips to make sure that you’re staying warm as you venture out into the cold this winter.

1. Bundle Up!

This might seem obvious but as Vancouverites, we aren't quite used to the colder climate. The key to staying warm is to choose your fabrics carefully.

The best method for this is to follow the 3-layer method:

  • 1st layer (base): synthetic moisture wicking fabric

  • 2nd layer: wool or fleece fabric

  • 3rd layer: water + wind resistant fabric

AVOID COTTON AS IT STAYS WET FOR LONG PERIODS!

Also, ensure that your head, hands, neck and ears are also covered in well-insulated fabric.

2. Wear Proper Footwear.

Do the research for what footwear is best for your intended activity. You definitely don’t want to end up with freezing or pinching toes because you wore the wrong shoes for your snowy hike. It is also DEFINITELY worth the investment if you are going to be venturing directly in the snow.
